PIDC

Every year, on the 1st Sunday of June, the city of New York would would have blockades from 41st St on Madison Ave that continues down to 23rd St. The reason being the Philippine Independence Day Celebration. On this day, a parade will take place starting on 41st St to 26th St. In the middle of 24th-26th St are food vendors, merchants, exhibitors, service companies and, who could forget, a tent for the karaoke. There is a stage on 23rd where all the performers were ready to entertain the huge number of crowds.
Here's a time sheet break down. The opening ceremony, which includes the ribbon cutting, begins at 11:45am. The parade starts at noon and lingers for 2 hours. At 2 o'clock, the festival continues on the stage. The entire celebration ends at 6pm. Not a minute more, not a minute less or the city shuts off the electricity haha.
There were a couple Filipino celebrities that came today. Jay-R, who apparently is the R&B prince, and Dingdong Dantes, "the 3rd sexiest man in the world"... or so they say, just to name a couple. Last year, Charice Pempengco, had an appearance. Well here's a few pictures from today's 111th Philippine Independence Day Celebration.
