sweetpotato&pecan

After coming home from finishing my jogging session with my homeboy Rilly, I get a call from him asking if I was hungry... DUDE! I'M ALWAYS HUNGRY! So he decides that we should eat Jamaican food. Being that I never tried Jamaican food before, I was excited to nibble on some.
So he prints out directions for this place called Sweet Potato & Pecan. It's a very tiny spot. you could definitely pass it if it weren't for the red on the wall. We parked across the street and headed over. The menu was up on the wall and there wasn't really much to choose from. I asked the cook what he would recommend but he was definitely no help.
Rilwan already knew he wanted Ox-tail. I went for Goat Curry (I'm not a fan of ordering the same dish). The cook time took a while... about 30-35 minutes. We finally got our order and ate outside.
For the price that we paid for, we could have gotten two meals. It was really disappointing. A fail for the books. I wanted to kick Rilly but it was his first time there too so I couldn't get mad at him hahaha. Anyway... never again... at Sweet Potato at least.

i thought it was CUISINE.

cake boss

Another fun friday today! Morgan paid a visit up to Bloomfield from her house down south Jersey. Took an hour and a half. We met up around noon and went to Dunkin' Donuts to fill her empty stomach. Actually, we were planning to get some eats at Raymond's in Montclair but couldn't find the place for the life of me. So DD was the choice.
Morgan and I went to Floyd Hall to get my check and met up with Hacker. So what did we do to make our friday fun? Went to Hoboken to stop at the famous Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop located at 95 Washington St. You might have seen their show Cake Boss on TLC. You can check out their website HERE.
We arrived at the bakery and placed a couple small orders. The inside is clean and full of customers. It was small though, like an elementary school hallway, with counters on both sides. The place was decorated with Buddy's awards and pictures of his cakes made for celebrities. We got to chat with Buddy's mother for a tad and asked if we could even take a picture with her. Of course she said yes... I mean who could say NO to this face. =)

thumbs up
Then Hacker used his BlackBerry to check on Zagat for the best pizzeria in Hoboken. The number one hot spot for pizza was Benny Tudino's at 622 Washington St. We headed over there as soon as our stomach started growling at us.
This place was awesome! You enter the pizzeria and the cooks are right there asking for your order. The menu wasn't big, yet wasn't minute. They were really nice and told us to take a seat so we can figure out what we wanted.

short story: you should have seen my face when our waiter came to hand us our slices. It was huge. I obviously didn't read "the biggest slices" part on the menu.

haha weirdo
haha
We headed home before traffic got to us. We sat down and opened our boxes of sweets from Carlo's Bakery. I ordered a fruit cup and Hacker got a red velvet cupcake.

R.I.P King of Pop

I am a HUGE fan and will forever be. I remember watching music videos at my cousins house in the Philippines when I was 6 or 7. I remember my sister rapping the rap part of Black or White with Macaulay Culkin lip-syncing it. I remember watching his videos repeatedly just so I can learn how to do the infamous Moon Walk. I remember watching The Simpson's episode when Michael was the voice of Leon, the fat bald guy. I remember dancing Thriller for Battle of The Classes '06 and the entire audience was going insane. I remember and will ALWAYS remember how talented you are Michael. May you rest in peace.

by far, my most favorite video of MJ... is, of course, with MJ.

a very heart-warming episode, sort of, of the Simpsons when it was Lisa's birthday. Who could forget that Birthday song? It gave me goosebumps. I know MJ didn't really sing it but he did contribute to the lyrics and was the voice in some parts of the episode. This was the best version I could find on YouTube. Credit to adamxxxx18 for the video.

transformers 2

We got the hook up to watch a free screening for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen last night. We got to watch it before it was shown to the public, which was at midnight. Popcorn, coke, and slushee was on the house. All thanks to Cat... she's definitely awesome in my book.
After the movie she gave us a tour around. It felt like a class trip to the movie theatre. We got hooked up with movie posters. I got a ginormous Hangover poster, which is going straight to my basement.
I brought my camera along but, of course, I forgot the memory card... idiot. It didn't matter since we're not allowed to take snap shots anyway. I can understand that.

Zac Efron
unfortunately that's all I will be showing. Got to respect the legal aspect of things.

vietnamese

I picked my dad up today in Newark Airport a few hours after i got my fresh cut. He came from the Bahamas. He and my sister performed at a Philippine fiesta going on over there. I asked him how his Father's Day was and all that stuff. All he really wanted was to go somewhere to eat. Minado? naaaah too far. Cuban Pete's? naaaah too typical. So he asks Do you want to eat Chinese, Indian, Japanese,Viet..... The second his tongue pronounced the V, without hesitation, I said BINH DUONG.
Binh Duong is a traditional Vietnamese restaurant located on 61 Belleville Ave in Bloomfield. It's in the East-West market area. Don't let the small, unwelcoming look deceive you. The food here is, without a doubt, well worth it. Very cheap and served asap.
It isn't the biggest restaurant in the world but it sure will put the biggest smile on your face. A budget friendly place. It has about, at most, ten tables. Not too bright and not too dim inside. They get right to the point. Check it out.

friday fun

TGIF... FOR REAL! my week has been way too long. I have been going berserk at work. Just ready to shout at the top of my lungs.
I decided that going to a pub would be the solution. Matt and I met up with E-Mar and Cat at Shannon Rose. Moji Came 5 minutes after.

short story: June 2nd, I declared that I wouldn't drink any alcohol, liqour, booze.. etc. It's been going great.

Just chilling at Shannon Rose and listening... err, forced to hear, some unpleasant music. Natalie came through as well. Everyone had an order of drinks but me. Party Pooper Me got H2O on the rocks. ;)
some of us
all of us

OK... so Shannon Rose wasn't fun enough to end a Friday. Moji shouts out "chicken & rice." How could I disagree with that tremendous idea?! Everybody but E-Mar and Matt had been there before. In other words... we popped their cherry.
But before we hit up "chicken & rice," we stopped at 123Bar. $1 burger, $2 shots, $3 beer... hence the name.

... i don't know.

After a couple burgers and beer, and an annoyed waitress, we finally ditched 123Bar and drove off to get some "chicken & rice."

there were more photos but E-Mar was smart enough to NOT post them on Facebook, which I got all these pics from. Nonetheless, it was a greeeeaaattt night.

great adventure

Mondays are probably the best day of the week to go to 6flags. Mondays are usually the slow days. When everyone is barely arriving to work on time, hardly working, and already wishing the weekend would come... and that's exactly how I would have felt if I haven't gone to Great Adventure.
We arrived at 6flags around 11am or so. The ticket line was long but it's nothing compared to a line in a weekend. Nick was dumb enough to bring his home-made 8in sandwich his mom prepared specifically for him through the gates just to find out that he has to dispose of it. So here we thought that he would just go back to the car and save it for later... nah.. not Nick... OF COURSE NOT... If Aladin were real, he would have praised the gods that he found a meal for 2 in the trash thanks to Nick.
Anyway it was a very exciting, yet exhausting, day. I recorded our Nitro and Batman rides. check them out.
