So during the video shoot, I took the time to grab Nida to take a few shots. I told her to pose right by the garbage. Sounds gross right? But hey she posed the SH*T out of the dump site. Plus it's not really as dirty as it sounds. It's pretty clean for garbage... I think I even saw one of the flies wearing a tuxedo... that's how fresh the garbage was. Here's some behind the scene shots for BDubdez music video Choreo (I would post up more but I accidentally deleted them after I gave the copy to my boy Alfy.) BDubez is a rapper from Brooklyn, NY that I met during the shoot through Alfy. He asked if he could use my studio for a video shoot. How could I say no?! My studio will be part of a music video!!

So they came today and Devin (who I also met a few days earlier) came early to set up the green screen. Then the rest of the crew came by. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just give you guys some links.

Had the pleasure to do a session with DJ Nano today. It's such a small world, let me tell you. This guy has known my sister for years and his mom is good friends with my dad. I also saw DJ Nano on the stage at the Philippine Independence Day Parade... I never really realized it until I saw photos on Facebook. Here comes the Philippine Independence Day Parade for it's 12th year. Every year is more successful than the previous. I can say that this year will be it's best because the president of the entire committee is no other than my dad. He's been giving a helping hand to this committee for I-don't-even-remember-how long. Anyway.. if you haven't yet attended a this fiesta come visit next year. It's always held on Madison Ave, NY and is on the very first Sunday of June. Google about it! =)

No... not Michael Jordan... sorry for making you even THINK that.. I wasn't really trying to hint it. But I'm talking about my friend Jordan who lives by the school. And when we want to ball all we had to do was scream out his name and a couple minutes later... he's coming out of the house, open his fence door, walk to the court with slippers, and is ready to ball-up with his newly showered self and gelled hair. It might be hard to imagine but that's just how he rolls.
This time around, though, is a bit different. He cut off his hair... and... oh wow... that's basically it. He's ball game is still not up to par, all his moves are the same, still misses the hoop... I don't know.. I think he should go back to the PI. =) jk Jordan. I missed you bro!

Well first off, I intended to have a photo project for this summer. This would include actually riding BMX again... back to my very first hobby! Memories def came back to me about my old yellow Dyno BMX bike. HA oh man. Surprisingly, it's still alive for all those years I kept it in the garge - garage meaning outside in the rain, hail, sleet, snow or whatever inclement weather you want to throw me. Though it's still alive... it's really not in it's best quality to shred... AT ALL. So I'm building up a new bike!

For this summer project, I want to take some action shots of all my boys who skate or bike. Gathering them should be a cinch... the only thing complicated about it is taking the photo itself. I am planning on sticking with action photography and also portrait. I have been saving a few bucks to get a new body soon... I'm coming for you 7D!

Anywho... I headed up to Animal Headquarters this afternoon with my good boy Brian. It was a first for me to be there and I was souped that I had the chance to actually see what the big deal is... and it def is a BIG DEAL when it comes down to ANIMAL. I bought a few parts and 2 of their latest shirt designs.

Shout out to the entire Animal Crew!

Lent was a couple days ago and I just realized that I haven't given something up. I usually don't do this but when I do, I end up failing a few days after. But this year will be different. 2010 will be the year I do something about myself. So what should I liberate myself from you ask? I decided to deactivate my Facebook account today! Ok ok ok I know it sounds asinine giving up something unworthy. But I figure if I had to give something up for lent, why not something that DOESN'T help me with my life.

I don't want to be that person that depends on the internet craze to live. Also, I don't want to be that person who creeps on strangers profiles to try to get to know them. I don't want to be that person that writes a book on the "status" bar and act emo so I could desperately get major comments. I don't want to be that person that changes "status" every 5 minutes so people can go out of their way to see what nonsense I have to say about my life. I don't want to be that person that believes in relationships statuses and converse with my fellow facebook creepers about it. I don't want to be that person that needs dire attention that I have to comment people so I can get a comment back on my "wall." I don't want to be that person that revolves my free time waiting for a "notification" just to find out it was just a dumb application that you received from people you don't know. I could keep going but you might think that this is all based on ME... PLEASE DON'T!

UGH! I got two flat tires coming home from the city tonight! I demolished the front right tire and destroyed the back right. And my rims... oh man, my rims... they're ruined. SAD FACE! I can't even be too depressed about it knowing that I came out of that unscathed. I honestly don't even know what happened except for the fact that I hit the curb... HARD. Way to fit the stereotype =\

On a cool note, I got to meet up with my friend Yasmin who I haven't seen since my New Years party of '08! 'Twas a good night... even though my friends flaked out on me to go drink in the city. She took me to Pommes Frites, which was a first for me, and treated me to some french fries.. (or are they still called "freedom fries?")

Went to Staten Island to have dinner with Liz's family. After that Liz and I headed to South Beach.. no, NOT Florida, but a nearby boardwalk. The shoot didn't really last long considering the weather was probably in the negatives! I couldn't feel my fingers at all and my face was burning cold. I have so many ideas for the shoot here so I definitely have to head back again.

My friends and I celebrated my boy Rich's birthday last night at Carmine's in Manhattan. Rich is a friend of mine that is trying to run his business, FUTUREAMAZING, with his partner. I met Rich through Don because they are brothers and I had no choice but to meet the guy. (Check out Don's birthday HERE)

Carmine's is located at the Theater District of Manhattan at W 44th... between 7th and 8th. It is definitely a spot to go to with a huge party. The food is amazing and each platter is served for 3-4 persons. Carmine's isn't the cheapest nor the most expensive but it definitely is worth the money. They do take a while to serve the food though, but I guess the kitchen was busy since it was a Friday night.

Ok so I couldn't sleep at all last night. I was having nightmares and kept waking up every effing 5 minutes waiting for this damn 24-70L lens (Click HERE for the old post about it). I keep thinking UPS will leave me a "You-didn't-open-your-door-so-pick-it-up-tomorrow note" or that my package would just not come today. BUT it did arrive and I couldn't have been any more jolly than a little kid getting all the toys he had on his wish list from Santa. Basically, it felt like I got an A on a quiz, my birthday and christmas all together.
What's even more exciting is (if you're into photography, earmuff yourself... or should I say don't read the next few lines because you might get jealous) that I bought 2, you read that correctly... 2!! Pocketwizard FlexTT5's, a 7ft. Manfrotto stand, a 32in CL Reflective umbrella, and a 580EXII all this week... hence the title for this post minus the "ol' time."
OH man has it been a crazy week for my pockets... I don't even think that there's lint stuck inside anymore. I'm all out ;)

I celebrated New Year's Eve at my house this year and invited a couple friends. Nothing too big and nothing too small. It was really a perfect size with the perfect people. I didn't want to go too crazy like my New Year's Eve party 2 years ago (Click HERE). Well for one, he met me! DUH. I'm Liz, from Staten Island, live in Nyack, work in Jersey. I met B at work, the place we have been completely subordinate to for the last 2 weeks. Big BOO to David Z and their nonsensical holiday hours! Yet, can't be bitter toward the store that brought us together, right? Anyway enough about me, more about B.

For Christmas Bernardo received a new lens for his camera a 24-70mm to be exact. Don't think this guy could get any happier with a present (lots of kudos to Eldridge on that one!) He also got a spifty pair of J.Crew gloves from yours truly, but they didn't fit and had to return them. =( He also got some bling bling from me. HAHA

A little thinking outloud right quick. Bernardo might delete this, it's not that good. But we'll see

I don't know what else to write. I'll just give a quick kiss to my baby, he's pretty amazing and makes me super happy.

I JUST got this lens for Christmas and it's already F*^&ED UP. This is how the story goes:

So it's my turn to open a present. I get this small box wrapped in golden paper. I rip it open and see this box that reads EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM. and HOLY SH*T did I almost defecate on the spot... It's the lens I've been dreaming to get! SO I give Eldridge a hug (because it was from him) and as I pull away from that manly hug, his shoulder hits my hand, which was obviously not grasping the lens like a man hand should, and all I hear is a heart break. Yeah it fell on the floor... =/ and now it's got that annoying miniscule ding on the tip. UGH! So now I have to return it and try to get a new one... I hope they take it back and I get a second chance.

Finally bought my very first LEATHER JACKET!! NO it's not fake... YES it's 100% leather. Gap had a 50% Off Outerwear SALE this weekend and I took the last medium which ran me $174. Pacman vs Cotto

As the fight for the welterweight title dubbed "Firepower" has ended... I just have a few thoughts about it. Sure Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won it, but I still have to give a round of applause to Miguel Cotto. Cotto is a very great boxer, I'll give him that. But Manny is just a BEAST!
Manny is too fast... he's getting to almost the same level as Mayweather Jr... and that's saying a lot! As he gains weight, he also becomes even more powerful and his punches are very ferocious. Manny battles the weight limits no matter how many pounds he has to gain OR lose. When he has a fight, he gets in the zone and there's no stopping him.
I know Miguel Cotto is a very powerful boxer, but he lacks the speed and combinations like Pacquiao. He did seem to be faster and quicker in this fight. I think the only way he could have defeated Manny is if he gets a dead-on hit or he changes his fighting technique to be a counter-puncher, like Marquez.
Even though Manny won the fight.. I still wasn't too impressed by it. I think that they just fought Cotto at his most vulnerable stage. Cotto lost his VERY FIRST match against Margarito... and THAT definitely broke him down. Plus Cotto had to drop a few pounds meaning he'd get tired quicker. BUT Cotto lasted pretty long in the ring. Twelve rounds is very astonishing considering Pacman's recent wins ended at Round 2 against Ricky "Hitman" Hatton and Round 7 against Oscar "The Golden Boy" De La Hoya. Good fight Miguel!

Manny is now going down in history as the first ever boxer to win titles in 7 different weight classes. I'm really proud to be a filipino...FINALLY!!! (jk). Manny is a hero to the entire country and I wish I was back home to celebrate and drink San Miguel Beer and munch on pulutan... sorry guys.. it's a filipino thing ;)

After months of the trailers and teases... I finally got you, you crazy sonuvabietch! The gameplay itself, compared to MW1, is soooo much better. Also the graphics. I don't care what anybody says, I don't care if you have an XBox, and I don't care if you're not into anything related to this... MW2 PWNS!

Only problem it has as of right now is the Invite option. Sooooo unnecessary. They should have kept the old invite option from the older version. Plus, the internet is going bonkers and won't allow anyone to be invited. WHAT THE HELL INFINITY WARD??!! DO SOMETHING!! Other than that, the game is AWESOME!

Ok first of all, I'm not that big of a fan of baseball. I'm more of a basketball type of dude. Buuuuuut since it was between the Phillies and the Yankees... why not root for the Yankees?

The Yankees are the only thing that keeps my mom away from studying (and from keeping me to sleep because of her screams of excitement). She's been a fan for quite sometime and I was just there rooting on with her. And since they made it to the top... I thought I would actually purchase my first ever Yankee hat (I normally rock a Red Sox hat... not because I like them, but more for the B on the cap.... think about it ;] ) and my first ever Yankee hoody.

Woke up early today and purchased the items at my local Sports Authority just so I can blend with all these fans in the parade. About $70 worth and I wasn't even able to show it off to the players... totally missed the floats. Oh well.. maybe for the 28th.

Ok so after RU, I got home around 4am, took a power nap, went to work, then headed straight to Rider University to party with my homegirl. The rain made it the driving unbearable but I arrived safely and started to pregame in the apartment. An hour after getting ready and figuring out what her roommate is going to dress as, we hopped on the car and drove to the party.

This house was bananas. We got there early with about 20 people present and 15 minutes later, I feel like the entire university was drinking with me. The house got filled up real quick... and this is no small house, mind you... but I guess that's how they do it at Rider. Baahhaha the night was glorious!

I drove to Walmart today and bought a 3x3 yard muslin cloth for a cheap and easy DIY backdrop. The real deal was way too expensive for me so I went on another route and found a way to get something else.

The price came up to about $15 which I think is pretty good compared to a $120 back drop. I'll purchase those some other time.. but for now this will do.

I finally got my Canon 28-135mm IS lens yesterday! I bought it for a good price too. It came with both lens cap and that's it...

...so I went to UniquePhoto today and bought a Canon lens hood, a Kenko filter, and a few Photoshop User mags.

I now have a decent walk-around lens. The best part is that it has an image stabilizer so I wouldn't need a tripod as much. WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

OK, so I haven't updated my blog in a couple days. I'M SORRY! I've been busy due to my birthday week. I got to keep you up on a few things that happened so far. Besides from all the partying and clubbing and lounging and pubbing and anything fun related...

I finally got my CPR card on Monday.

I passed the test, paid the fee, and got it a few weeks later.

Got a $25 gift card for Applebee's from my manager... HELL YEAH!

Purchased 2 Quamut folders. I LOVE QUAMUT.

It was so hard to find!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

I feel so young... about 22 years young! haha. I'm not going to say "oh, i'm so old" or "damn i'm feeling old" because, really, I feel young (duhhh 22 is still young). I haven't done most of my bucket list... like save a drowning fish or pay for something free (they're jokes, calm down). I'm still waiting to get out of college and when that happens, then I'll say I'm old.

Anyway, my parents bought me a yellow collared shirt from Rhuel. I don't really shop there at all but it's a pretty neat store. I mean, the only reason they bought me the shirt was because, if you look close enough, you'll see there's a brown French Bulldog on the shirt. Haha how fun is that?!

I guess I already know what I'll be wearing for Sunday, which will be my Beer-B-Q celebration.. is it too cold and windy for a beer-b-q? oh well. Everything will be a-ok.

Comedy Cellar

Have you been to Comedy Cellar in the city? It's definitely a place to go to for a real laugh. Comedy Cellar had guests such as Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell, Jim Norton, Jeff Ross, and Godfrey (who was the main show last night). Eldridge thought it was would be fun to watch with our guests from the Bahamas.

It's very small inside sort of like a hallway. Seats no more than about 50 people and the waitresses or somebody else would bump you every time they pass by. Other than the miniscule space, it was hysterical. There were about 5-6 comedians that night and each did their own thing. Godfrey was ridiculous. There was a heckler in the crowd and she was handled with a few good jokes and some lessons in manners. Oh, comedy!

My manager ordered me to go downstairs to Sbarro and purchase her 2 bottles of water... she gave me her debit card, of course (I ain't paying for her!!). Anyway, I went to Sbarro, grabbed 2 bottles, and went to the cashier. The scene went something like this:

me: cool (without really hearing what she says). Then I saw the total on the register.

My new friend Lola, who i met at Monika's party, asked me if I could help her take photos of her models to improve her fashion portfolio. How could I say no? Asian Pub was the venue for Arlene's 21st birthday. It took me about half an hour to find parking... which, luckily, ended up right around the corner from the pub. About 13 of us got there by 12:30. The rest came around 1:30.

It was a nice little spot. The drinks were cheap and the calamari was pretty good. The place was just a little too tight, though. It was hard enough to get chairs for everyone. The line for the bathroom was extensive. Other than that it was a whole lot of fun with the group.

I found it funny that an Asian guy was the bouncer and once you got inside, there were no other Asians working. I bought a round of 7 Jagerbombs to start off the night. Mike, the bartender was way cool. He made me only pay for 6 of them. Christian bought a round of Sprite and Vodka and Bianca spent a round for Cranberry and Vodka. After a couple drinks down, I asked Mike for 12 Jagerbombs this time. He only made me pay for 10. He's awesome! Definitely going back because of him.

Hit up Asian Pub in the weekend... it gets pretty crazy. It's in the East Village off of Bowery at 35 Cooper Sq. They do take credit/debit AND there's no admission fee! The food and the drinks are affordable but not the best you ever had... though, it'll do the trick.

Pizza Tour

For Arlene's early birthday present, I reserved 2 tickets for Scott's Pizza Tour. It's been rated as top 10 tours to go to by TripAdvisor, the infamous site for the travel community. I ordered the tickets a week in advance and couldn't sleep the entire week... I was TOO excited!

Woke up today, got ready, waited for Arlene, got on the 33 bus, took the N train, and walked to meet up with Scott's group for the day. To keep it secretive, I will not mention any of the pizzerias we went to... find out which ones he took us on by taking his tour. You can either take it by foot or by bus.

The gathering point was the first pizzeria we went to. Scott talked about the history of the building, what the building use to be, and even talked about pizza ovens. It might sound silly now, but little did you know that an oven is the most important part of it all. It will be the outcome of how your pizza will turn out.

We had a little pit stop across a pizzeria called Ray's. Scott told us jokes and funny stories about the name "Ray's" and how unoriginal the other pizzerias were.

We hopped on the tour bus and waited to arrive at our second stop. This place was a little small but the pizza had a huge taste. It had a better texture than the previous pizzeria, but the first pizzeria won my taste buds.

The third stop was a real dope spot. It took a while to get the pizza (they were a little busy) but it was definitely worth the wait. I like their pizza best out of the 3.

I have been dreaming about the next few items I should buy for my camera. I have a few in mind like the vertical grip, a fish eye or wide angle lens, strobe kits, or an external flash. My sister and I visited UniquePhoto today and played around with some of their toys.

External flashes were number one on my wish list considering my old Speedlite 430EZ is prehistoric and ready to be six feet under. I played around with the 430EX II and I fell in love in aflash. It was a little pricey for me still but def not too expensive like the newer model 580EX. After a few snaps I asked if I could get a new flash because I was ready to purchase.

Lenses are definitely next on the list for me. I've been wishing for wide angle lenses since forever (by forever I mean when I got my camera). I also played around with some of the wide angle lenses and got my eye on a Tamron 10-24mm. Oh the joy it brought to me. Well my birthday is coming up soon and I can't wait to force my folks to buy it for me.

My co-worker, Monika, who I haven't seen in about 2 years, sent me an invite last week to come through to her apartment in the city for a party. The theme was animals or some type of beasts... you'll see in some pictures. Pretty hilarious theme if you ask me.

It took almost half an hour to find parking until i gave up and just paid the garage a few bucks. I buzzed in, opened the door, went up the elevator, knocked a few times, and finally got in. It was a sight, let me tell you. You had to be on the "guest list" to get in. But not really.

Neil and I decided to hit up the Museum of Natural History today. We figured that it should be interesting and full of surprises. Full of surprises it was... it was surprisingly BORING! geez. Majestic Buffet has been taken over by Mikado 23, a sushi and sashimi buffet. I have been to Majestic and I could say first hand that it was a very good restaurant.... BUUUTTTTT Mikado 23 didn't slack off. Rumor, or should I say, critics, says that it's a cheaper version of Minado, another sushi and sashimi buffet. Regardless of what others say, I think it's a better choice. Minado is way too expensive... about $30 per person. You can't blame them for the obnoxious price because they're not "The Ultimate Sushi Buffet" for no reason. But if you're short of $5, I would recommend visiting Mikado 23. It's worth the time... plus with the extra $5, you can get dessert elsewhere.

Today was the first time I ever puppy-sat. I really enjoyed taking care of Lilo, my friend Tiffany's little 9 week old pup. She is so miniscule that if I left her alone for 2 seconds, she would have probably been lost. Lilo fits in everything small including under the sofa, the shoe basket (where my family just pile up our footwear), under the heater (which is off... it IS summer), hiding behind picture frames, and our flower pots. She weighs very light and could pick her up with my thumb (if my thumb had a thumb). I can't wait to see you again Lilo, I hope you enjoyed your stay!

Natalie, or should I say "Master Bro-hamster!" I have known you since Mrs. Bonavita's CCD class. That was around 5th grade when I use to call you Netherbee... for some weird reason. I know your birthday was on the 21st but we celebrated it tonight. I can't believe we went to Lana Lounge in Hoboken (on fricking Latin night, I'm guessing) then back to Clifton for Pub 46, then drove to the city for Chicken & Rice, and drive back home to Bloomfield. What a waste of gas... it doesn't matter as long as we wasted it with you. All I can say is that Erica paid $8 to use the restroom in NY. hahahahahahaha too funny.

Today is Sputnik's 1st birthday!! It's so exciting! I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He was as tiny as a squirrel the first time I got him. Now he's as big as piglet... and snorts like one too! Sputnik was 90% white with just black on both sides of his face and tail. Now he looks like a dalmatian and a cheetah and polka-dots all together. I love my dog to death. He means the world to me. Even though he keeps going through the garbage, pooping on the hardwood floor, missing the wee wee pad, going under my bed so I can't kick him out of the room, biting the walls and waking me up early in the morning so he can do his business outside. UGH!... whatever. I enjoy every second spent with him =)

Everyone in the family enjoys his company regardless of his crazy antics. Here's a video of me, my sister and my mom. Don't mind the tagalog (filipino lingo). We just wanted my mom to let Sput give her a kiss... she hates it when Sput licks her that's why hahaha. Then on 0:52 my dad tosses Sput at my mom... that's the commotion.

I have known Moji since the 3rd grade. We went to the same Fairview Elementary School for 2 years until we both moved to opposite sides of town. We kept our friendship and it only grew from there. Don't take me wrong, it might seem iffy but he definitely takes his time. He won't let you leave the chair unless he's satisfied with the cut. Tell him how you want it and it shall be done.

Moji and I met up today and felt the need to chomp down on pancakes. I told him that we should visit Country Pancake House in Ridgewood, NJ. It fills your stomach up for the whole day. Don't let the size of the meal fool your pocket because visiting CPH won't put a hole in it. CPH serves the largest pancakes I have ever seen! And if that's not enough, CPH is recommended by Zagat 4 times!

Country Pancake House has been rated "Best Bang for your Dining Buck" and "Best Meal Deals" by Zagat. This pancake house has been in numerous Newspapers and Magazines and was considered one of the places to eat at Bergen County. Country Pancake House has been in the Food Network as well.

The pancake house is a very calm and welcoming place. Once you enter, you feel like a local. You would be lucky to get a seat the minute you get in. The prep time took a few minutes but it's understandable considering they make a very leviathan portion. It's nice and quiet inside and the music isn't too loud or too low. The waitresses seemed nice and are very helpful. They even give you chocolate chip cornbread to nibble on as you wait for your order!

What are you waiting for? If you're starving, you SHOULD eat at Country Pancake House. Don't even bring your credit/debit card... it's cash only. It's sure to make you happy as it made my "favorite places to eat" list. This place made me forget how to spell IHOP. If you haven't believe anything you've read so far, then you will definitely have the hardest time taking in the 90 toppings they put on pancakes... that's right... 90. I did not stutter.
